District administrators described the league as comprising eight schools—Ravenham, Springfield, Crestwood, Rittstown, Mogador, Southeast, James Garfield and Waterloo—and said the grouping is intended to reduce travel time for student‑athletes, create size‑appropriate competition and renew local rivalries. Administrators said they have held several planning meetings and are working on governance details such as selecting a commissioner and scheduler.
Officials estimated the new alignment would reduce travel time for league contests by about 25 minutes on average compared with current opponents and emphasized a multi‑year commitment (five to eight years) to maintain stability as superintendents and athletic directors inevitably change.
The motion to authorize participation was moved and seconded and approved by the board.
