At its Nov. 10 meeting the Pickerington Local School District board approved routine personnel items, accepted donations, and acted on three specific agenda items: a compensation agreement tied to county TIF parcels, adding girls wrestling as a sanctioned athletic program for grades 9–12 at the district’s two high schools, and granting a temporary easement to the city of Pickerington for reconstruction of East Street.
The consent agenda included administrative personnel appointments, certified and licensed personnel changes, substitute teacher recommendations, support personnel hires and supplemental contracts and stipends for extracurricular roles. Superintendent Dr. Smialek reviewed the list of personnel and asked trustees for approval; the board moved, seconded and approved the consent items by roll call.
On the interdistrict compensation agreement (an item involving Fairfield County and neighboring districts), staff pointed to a set of parcels and explained that five parcels on the district side generated just under $100,000 in 2024 taxes; if the district collects about 60% of that amount, staff estimated Pickerington’s share at roughly $60,000. Trustees discussed parcel locations and map details before approving the agreement.
The board voted to sanction girls wrestling for grades 9–12 at the district’s high schools; the motion passed by roll call.
A city official described the East Street improvement as a city‑funded project with new curbs, sidewalks and roadway and asked the district to allow temporary use of district land for staging and access; the board approved a motion to grant the temporary easement. Staff noted construction begins in April and that some parking disruptions near district facilities are expected.
The board also accepted donations made in October and approved them by roll call.
Finally, the board moved into executive session under Ohio Revised Code §121.22(G)(1) to discuss the employment or compensation of a public employee; roll call approved the motion and no further open‑session business was anticipated.
