Cuyahoga Heights board appoints Andy Head to CVCC seat, reappoints treasurer and approves consent items

At its Nov. 5 meeting the Cuyahoga Heights Board of Education approved several routine actions by unanimous roll call.
The board approved a resolution appointing Andy Head as the district's rotating representative to the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center (CVCC) board. Andy Head introduced himself to the board, saying he graduated from the University of Akron with an engineering degree and works in management in Brooklyn Heights in manufacturing. "I'm looking to take great advantage of this opportunity to help out Cuyahoga Heights as well as, hopefully, learn myself," he told members before the appointment vote.
The board also reappointed Matt Lucio as treasurer/CFO by unanimous vote; members publicly thanked him for his fiscal oversight, including work on the county-tax issue discussed earlier in the meeting.
On the treasurer's consent agenda the board approved financial reports and a set of vendor and program items: adding Diamond Fundraising for a senior-class fundraiser, Dean's Greenhouse for the senior flower sale, CDW‑G licensing, and a pool rental agreement with the City of Independence for swim‑team practice (approximate cost noted in attachments). The Model UN team was approved for a blanket purchase order (about $7,000) to support travel to a Columbus competition, with the district noting students will reimburse or fundraise to offset much of the cost.
Superintendent items approved included a memorandum of understanding with the teachers' association to formalize a choreography supplemental in the contract, a CVCC partnership providing an annual $30,000 allocation for CTE/STEM initiatives, gifted‑identification and special‑education policy adoptions required annually, and personnel actions including the hire of long‑term substitute William Bemke (effective Sept. 18) and bus/van driver Sonsiere Stallworth pending background checks.
All motions noted in minutes passed by recorded roll‑call votes of 5–0.
