The Coventry Local School District superintendent reported that most summer facility projects are underway and offered timelines for completion at the board’s regular meeting.
Track resurfacing is scheduled to begin around August 5, the superintendent said, with roughly three weeks needed for the work to set before the top surface is applied. The elementary-school playground’s artificial turf installation is largely in place and should improve safety under play equipment. The superintendent also reported progress on a STEM lab floor polish and boardwalk invasive-species clearing, and scheduled the district’s annual summer walkthrough for August 14 at 9 a.m., beginning at the elementary school.
During citizen participation, a resident praised recent district improvements and presented plaques recognizing academic and fiscal gains, including a referenced Moody’s upgrade tied to the district’s emergence from a prior fiscal emergency. The resident suggested placing the plaques in a future administration building for community display; the board thanked the resident for the contribution.
The district also noted that the auditor-required fraud-prevention and conflict-of-interest training will be completed in group form at the meeting and that staff must sign and file acknowledgments. The recorded Ohio Auditor of State training stressed definitions of fraud, waste, and abuse and explained reporting routes to the auditor’s special investigations unit.
Next steps: staff will complete the acknowledgment forms for the training, schedule and document the track demo and repairs as approved by the board, and prepare facilities reports for future board review.
