Cuyahoga Heights highlights student honors: AP School Honor Roll and ESEA national distinction

The Cuyahoga Heights Board on Jan. 21 celebrated academic recognitions and named students of the month.
Superintendent (S4) told the board the high school made the College Board AP School Honor Roll again, earning silver status for the third straight year, and detailed the AP program metrics that contributed to the designation. He also said the elementary school received national distinction under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) for progress in closing achievement gaps and literacy work; district staff will travel to Denver to accept the award, and the Ohio Department of Education provided $5,000 in additional Title funds to help with costs.
The meeting included student-of-the-month presentations for multiple grades. Presenters and teachers read nomination notes for awardees including sixth-grade student Katalaya (Kat) Taylor and seventh-grade honoree Kevin Gamble, highlighting classroom preparation, extracurricular involvement, and character traits.
Board members congratulated students and staff and noted the recognitions as evidence of district academic and programmatic strengths. Photos of honorees were taken for the district website.
