Cuyahoga Heights board approves communications subscription, laptops and booster donations

The Cuyahoga Heights Board of Education approved routine financial items and purchases at its Jan. 21 meeting, voting 4-0 to adopt the consent agenda that included financial reports, purchase orders, and donations.

Treasurer (S2) described two purchase orders on the consent agenda: a $17,788.38 contract with Apogee to consolidate district communications and website services, and a $16,639.84 order from Blum of Minnesota for 16 Lenovo ThinkPad laptops for Project Lead the Way labs. Superintendent (S4) said the laptop purchase is allowable under the district’s annual CVCC career-tech partnership grant (about $30,000) and that the upgrade should serve the middle- and high-school labs for five to six years.

The consent vote also accepted two donations from CHS Athletic Boosters: $943.50 to help buy televisions for the athletic concession stand and about $10.24 from wrestling meet proceeds earmarked for the Class of 2026. Board members discussed how the TVs would be used and the district’s gradual shift to cashless payments at concession stands.

Votes at a glance: The treasurer called the roll for the consent motion and recorded unanimous approval: Missus Decca — Aye; Miss Pajeska — Aye; Mr. Rossi — Aye; Mr. Czajaki — Aye. The motion passed 4-0.

The board took no separate votes on each purchase; all items were approved as part of the consent agenda. The board also later corrected and held an additional roll-call vote on items they had momentarily skipped; that corrected vote likewise passed 4-0.
