The Coventry Local Board of Education on May 20 approved a slate of personnel recommendations presented by the superintendent/presenter.
Certified-personnel actions approved included accepting resignations for Mrs. Bracco, Mrs. Hannaford and Mr. Shirley and a retirement effective next July for Ms. Masters. The board also moved to rescind and reissue supplemental coaching contracts, grant extended-time supplemental contracts for 2025–26, and to approve three‑year administrative contracts (effective Aug. 1, 2025, through July 31, 2028) for several named administrators.
Classified‑personnel items approved included appointment of a 3‑hour lunch recess assistant (effective May 12), a recommended change in hours for a building position (Mr. Lynn moving to a 3‑hour CES lunch recess assistant effective 05/13/2025) and a recommended reduction in force for certain classified positions tied to shifting student placements and program changes (effective 06/30/2025); the presenter said those reductions are procedural and the board expressed hope the affected employees might return when positions reopen.
Board members moved and seconded the certified and classified personnel motions; roll‑call votes were recorded and the recommendations were approved. No board member raised additional conditions on the personnel approvals at the time of the votes.
The personnel packet also referenced contingencies: non‑staff supplemental contracts and one‑year limited contracts are contingent on satisfactory background checks and drug screening per district policy and the CEA agreement.
