The district spotlight at the Coventry Local Board of Education meeting on May 20 recognized several student athletic achievements and statewide honors.
At the meeting a staff member presented record-breaking results from the season, naming the 4x100 relay team (Ali Dokan, Mason Dimeth, Sean Whitlow and Donnie McMullen) and a 4x200 relay group; an individual record in the 100-meter dash (time cited as 11.3 seconds) was named as Donnie McMullen. The presentation also noted an individual cross‑country 2‑mile time and a 1‑mile performance (Owen Heater) and two students who were honored by the Ohio Middle Level Association at a ‘Breakfast of Champions’ (the transcript lists a King — alternately as Ava King and Emma King).
The presenter said students helped make eighth‑grade T‑shirts in the district STEM lab as part of a hands‑on learning connection to the season. Board members and attendees applauded the students, and several trustees offered personal congratulations and recalled local athletic history.
The recognition took place early in the business meeting and required no board action. The spotlight concluded before the business agenda resumed.
