Westing said Elks Connect is part of the district's broader strategic focus on engagement. “Communicating and understanding is one of the focus areas of our strategic plan,” he said, adding that the district has spent the past two years holding formal and informal meetings to gather community feedback.
Westing recapped the first Elks Connect of 2025, saying about a dozen staff and community members toured Klein Elementary, discussed district initiatives and challenges, and held informal conversations about the schools. He said meeting materials include a summary of what was discussed.
The superintendent described the Feb. 26 session at Normandy Elementary as a short tour of the building followed by a brief discussion of school staffing and an opportunity for informal dialogue. He said the district plans to continue Elks Connect events throughout the year.
Westing closed the announcement with the community slogan, “Go Elks!” The district did not announce additional dates or provide a detailed agenda beyond the topics listed for the Normandy visit.
