Chagrin Falls board approves consent agenda, contracts and trips including well-drilling and vehicle purchase

The board approved a package of superintendent and treasurer recommendations Oct. 15, including policy revisions, an overnight baseball trip to Myrtle Beach, a 2019 Ford Transit purchase agreement with Daystar, and a contract with Ayers Well Drilling for a third well at Gurney Elementary.
At its Oct. 15 meeting the Chagrin Falls Exempted Village Board of Education approved a broad slate of consent and superintendent-recommended items, including personnel actions, program contracts, a vehicle purchase and a well-drilling contract for Gurney Elementary.
The board approved the consent agenda (items 5.01–5.04) and a set of superintendent recommendations (items 6.01–6.18) by roll call. Among the approved items were:
• Policy revisions (6.01), including changes to the attendance policy that lower the threshold for an automated attendance notice and require a 45-hour (roughly seven-day) notice generation in the district’s student-information system; board members agreed to send districtwide communications explaining the change.
• An overnight trip for the high-school baseball team to Myrtle Beach, S.C., scheduled March 22–29, 2026 (6.02), approved as presented.
• A purchase agreement with Daystar to buy a 2019 Ford Transit 150 passenger wagon (6.14); the purchase was discussed as a finalized agreement following earlier board approval of the purchase in concept.
• A contract with Ayers Well Drilling to add a third well at Gurney Elementary School (6.15); the superintendent and staff said the third well adds redundancy to aging 1990s-era wells and would help ensure adequate water service for the building.
• Service contracts and placement agreements, including a shared-service alliance professional-services contract (6.16), a placement-services agreement with the Trumbull County Educational Service Center (6.17) and a speech-and-language-services contract with PSI affiliates (6.18).
Board roll-call votes were recorded for each motion; the meeting transcript shows affirmative votes from the members present on each item. The board also approved then-and-now certificates, the monthly September financial reports and the financial forecast recommended by the treasurer.
The board chair said the district will continue to update the board on implementation steps for large items such as the well project and the vehicle purchase.
