Chagrin Falls board approves routine personnel and contracts, honors retiring operations leader and schedules executive session

The motions were moved by the Chair and seconded (motions and seconds were recorded on the agenda); roll-call responses recorded affirmative votes from board members present. The board cleared a long list of routine personnel and program items to ensure staffing and extracurricular programs were in place for the coming months.
Recognition: During the agenda the board read a tribute to Chris Wofter, who the speaker (S5) described as having served the district for nearly 14 years in operations and human resources. "For nearly 14 years, Chris Wofter has served Chagrin Falls Schools with a kind of leadership that is steady and deeply principled," S5 said. Board members expressed appreciation for Wofter's leadership and wished him well in retirement.
Executive session: Near the end of the meeting a board member (S4) moved to enter executive session "in accordance with Ohio Revised Code Section 121.22" to consider matters related to employment, discipline and compensation of public employees and to prepare for or review bargaining sessions; the motion was seconded and approved. The board announced it would not take action after the executive session.
What this means: The approvals covered routine operational needs (staffing, contracts, programs and transportation) and preserve the district's ability to proceed with scheduled activities such as robotics competition participation and the Washington trip. The executive session indicates the board will discuss personnel and bargaining matters in private consistent with state law.
