Carlisle Local board approves year-end financial steps, temporary appropriations and a $50,000 supplemental to facilities account

The Carlisle Local Board of Education voted June 23 to approve routine year-end financial actions, including the May 19 minutes and the month-end financial report for May 31, authorization for the treasurer to post year-end adjustments and close the fiscal-year books as listed in the board packet, and temporary appropriations to allow July spending ahead of permanent appropriations in September.
Treasurer (speaker 2) told the board there were "no real surprises" in the month-end statements and asked the board to approve the financial report. The board moved and approved the minutes and financial report in a roll-call vote in which members present answered affirmatively.
On supplemental appropriations, the treasurer said interest dollars left over after closing a construction project were moved into the district's O34 (classroom facilities) account, requiring an increase in the appropriation "by about $50,000" to cover spending from that account. The board approved the supplemental appropriation.
The board also selected the Southwestern Ohio BC Senior Insurance Pool for property, liability and fleet coverage and accepted two donations: a contribution from the Orioles of Franklin to the Carlisle Fishing Club and a donation from the Carlisle Safe Soccer Organization to support a student program. Those items were moved and approved by roll call.
The motions were handled as part of the consent/action block of the agenda; the treasurer explained temporary appropriations are needed so the district can begin spending on July 1 and that permanent appropriations will be brought to the board in September.
What happens next: the treasurer will post the adjustments and close the books as approved; permanent appropriations and any further budget adjustments will return to the board in September.
