The change gives staff time to plan operations, identify coaching and coordinate facility use; the district said it will use the Groveport Recreation Center for practices and meets.
A community advocate, Mister Jacobs, addressed the board in support of the proposal: “I appreciate you guys, hearing out our proposal for offering this as an official sport for our young people,” he said. Board members voted to approve the program and asked staff to return with implementation details including feeder outreach, staffing and facility agreements.
Next steps: Athletics staff will finalize a program plan, coordinate with the Groveport Recreation Center and report back to the board on staffing and budget implications prior to the 2025–26 season.
