Board approves Head Start restroom work, small change orders and adopts state-required special-education policies

The Bradford Exempted Village Board of Education approved construction-related payments tied to the Head Start restroom renovation, accepted grant and donation updates and completed the second reading and adoption of updated special-education model policies.
Administrators reported the masonry contractor performed extra work (filling block cavities) and requested an additional $1,500; Jonathan Ford Construction agreed to general construction work not to exceed about $9,600. "They are asking for another $1,500, which is well below many of the other quotes we've got," an administrator said before the board approved the requests by roll call.
Treasurer Carla summarized finance items on the consent calendar including donations (Greenville Federal spirit-card donation, Covington Eagles donation), a Wayne Healthcare Foundation contribution for AEDs and an America 250 community grant application. The board moved to approve the consent items and recorded roll-call votes in the affirmative.
On policy, administrators noted that state-issued model special-education policies required districts to adopt comparable language; the board approved the updated policies at second reading and directed administrators to post materials on the district website for public review.
The board then voted to enter executive session for a personnel matter; no formal decisions were announced from that session in public.
