Brooklyn City board introduces 2026–27 school calendar; final vote set for December

Brooklyn City Superintendent introduced a draft 2026–27 school calendar at the Nov. 3 Board of Education meeting and opened the item for public review, saying the schedule largely follows past years but includes a few changes aimed at easing the start of the school year. "One of the things I heard from both staff and parents this fall is that having student orientation open house the night before the first day of school made it a little difficult for both staff and our families," the superintendent said, explaining a shift in records, orientation and convocation days in late August.

The superintendent said facility work may require some summer adjustments but that the calendar timing is intended to allow for construction flexibility.
