Bexley board honors a dozen retiring staff and awards community volunteers

Trustees used the start of the May meeting to recognize volunteers and retiring staff across the district.
Joanne presented the Friends of Education award to Rob Messinger for volunteer communications and voter outreach work on recent operating levies; Messinger thanked the community for the recognition. The Ohio Association of School Business Officials presented Carol Taylor, the district's public information officer, with the inaugural Callie Wells Ward award for outstanding communication and announced a $1,000 scholarship in Taylor’s name.
Board and building leaders paid tribute to a dozen retirees—including classroom teachers, counselors, custodial and administrative staff—with speakers noting combined service totals by school and personal memories from colleagues and students. Fifth-grade students read tributes for Cassingham retirees, and principals described each honoree’s contributions to students and colleagues.
The board took photographs and will place commemorative pavers at the high school piazza for retirees as part of the district’s recognition plan.
