During Item 3 the chair read the tallies: George Dean 324, Travis Hartman 298, Jerry Stevens 251 and Robert Curry 178. A motion to accept the preliminary results was made by Carrie and seconded by Nicole; the board then voted by hand and the chair declared the acceptance unanimous.
A board member asked whether candidates are permitted to vote to accept the results, asking, "Can the candidates vote? To accept the results?" The chair replied that candidates may vote for themselves and may accept results. Superintendent Seren Long later congratulated the winners and thanked the community for its support, saying the results "ensure that we can continue to provide high quality educational opportunities" and congratulating "George Dean, Travis Hartman, and Jerry Stevens who were voted in this evening to continue our work."
At least one speaker later misspoke when congratulating the winners, saying "Gary" during comments; the official tallies announced earlier list Jerry Stevens as the third-place finisher. The board did not discuss any contest or challenge to the counts during this meeting.
