Board asks staff to research gun-detection systems after member pushes for faster action

Board members discussed examples from neighboring districts and grants that had supported installations elsewhere, and staff agreed to gather vendor demonstrations, cost estimates and any relevant grant or building-aid eligibility and return to the board with a recommended timeline. No procurement decision was made at the meeting.
The board asked for a timeline on the research and for staff to consult with districts that have implemented similar systems; staff reported one or two vendor contacts were already in progress and that a formal presentation would be scheduled when the research is complete.
