The superintendent said teachers and students participated on a committee and that the pilot would begin in the first full week of school, with staff training and logistics for distributing approximately 500 numbered pouches.
On curriculum, he said the district received a new cross-curricular pre-K curriculum aligned to standards and that staff had inventoried and prepared materials so classrooms will be ready for the first day.
Board members asked logistical questions about the timing of the phone-pouch rollout and whether pulling students for pouches before they meet teachers could be disruptive; staff explained the choice to wait until students and teachers have met. A board member described recent outreach to a congressional office about daycare funding but was told federal assistance may be limited and that state-level options would be more productive.
The superintendent closed by inviting board members to help distribute materials on opening day and asked for patience as the district monitors the new initiatives.
