Syosset Board of Education declares election results, schedules canvass of absentee ballots

The Syosset Board of Education voted to officially declare the results of the district school budget and library propositions and the winners of the board and library trustee races after staff read the tabulation aloud in English and Spanish.

Board Chair called the special meeting to order at 10:13 p.m. and read a resolution stating "that the board of education declares the result of the ballot pursuant to section 2034-7 of the Education Law" and listing the vote tallies as announced earlier. The chair also noted the results were subject to the canvass of any FDebit/absentee ballots under Education Law section 2019-a.

A staff member explained the district must provide bilingual proceedings under a Nassau County consent decree and read the vote counts for Proposition 1 (school budget), the library proposition, and the candidates for the Board of Education and Syosset Public Library in English, then repeated the counts in Spanish.
