Board votes to enter executive session to discuss personnel discipline and contract negotiations

The Suffern Central School District Board of Education voted Tuesday to enter an executive session to review with the superintendent and assistant superintendent for human resources "matters leading to the discipline of a particular person" and matters related to contract negotiations, the board chair said.

The chair announced the purposes for the executive session and asked for a motion. A motion to enter executive session was made by Mr. Donnelly and seconded by Mr. Shapiro. The chair then called for a voice vote; board members present responded "aye." The chair asked whether anyone opposed or abstained and recorded none, after which the board recessed the public meeting.

"May the record reflect that all board members are present at this time," the chair said at the start of the meeting, and later noted, "We will see everyone back here at 07:30," before the board moved into closed session.

The board did not discuss the substance of the personnel matter or the details of the contract negotiations in the public portion of the meeting. The executive session items are routine procedures that the board handles in closed session when they involve confidential personnel decisions or ongoing bargaining, the chair indicated. The public meeting was recessed and scheduled to reconvene at 7:30 p.m.
