Suffern High students launch 'A Night to Nourish' fundraiser to support local food pantry

Student leaders from the Nourish Project told the Suffern Central School District Board of Education that they have organized "A Night to Nourish," a fundraiser to benefit the Community Food Pantry that serves Sloatsburg, Suffern, Hillburn and Tuxedo.
"We are the Nourish Project. We are a club at Suffern High School..." said Maya Rosato, one of the student presenters, who described the club's work raising awareness about local food insecurity and partnering with the community pantry. The students said the event is scheduled for Oct. 17 at Suffern High School from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The students set an ambitious fundraising target of about $25,000. Ticket pricing announced at the meeting was $25 for adults, $15 for students in grades 6–12, and free admission for fifth grade and under. The Nourish Project said participating students in grades 6–12 who attend with a ticket will receive four hours of community-service credit.
Students described promotional activities including "Dine to Nourish" restaurant partnerships and named local participants and performers expected at the event. District leaders thanked the students for organizing the effort and noted the initiative addresses observable food insecurity among district families.
The board did not take action related to the fundraiser; the presentation was an informational item and an appeal for community support.
