The Southampton Union Free School District board agreed to several routine actions after a program presentation, including setting a public hearing to consider a property tax exemption for Southampton Village Ocean Rescue and approving a facilities contract and personnel actions.
The board voted to hold a public hearing on Dec. 9 at 6:30 p.m. in the Southampton Intermediate School music room to consider a property tax exemption for Southampton Village Ocean Rescue members. President (chair) noted the town and village already grant similar discounts and described the proposed district exemption as mirroring discounts given to volunteer fire and ambulance personnel: “After five years of service you become eligible for a 10% discount; after 10 years, that 10% stays on the property,” the president said. The motion to set the hearing carried on a roll‑call vote.
On facilities business, the board approved a motion to award General Construction single‑prime contract GC‑1 for HVAC replacement at the district administration office to Central Air Corporation for a total award of $206,000 as presented on the agenda. The motion passed on a roll call.
The board also approved a stipulation and release regarding a student matter and voted to grant tenure to Stephanie J. Moran as a speech teacher in the tenure area of speech and language disabilities, effective Nov. 19, 2025. Members offered congratulations to Moran during the meeting.
An added personnel item (9.03a), which had been included on the agenda earlier in the meeting, was moved and approved as presented. The board adjourned at approximately 7:38 p.m.
