Hochul proposal would bar local police from serving as federal immigration agents and restrict access to "sensitive places"

East End News reported on a proposal by Gov. Kathy Hochul dubbed the "Local Cops Local Crimes Act," which the broadcast said would prevent local police departments from being used as federal agents and would bar federal agents from entering so-called "sensitive places" such as schools, hospitals and houses of worship without a judicial warrant. The program said the proposal had earned support from several local elected officials.
