Student council presents homecoming recap and plans for next year

Student government members presented a recap of this year’s homecoming events and outlined plans for next year. Juan Martinez, the student government president, said the student-led pep rally took place during eighth and ninth periods so the whole school could attend, and noted a sports parade in which each team created banners.
Student presenters described activities including a sponge race, hula-hoop relay and tug-of-war, which were trialed in advance to ensure they were fun and efficient. One student reported the bonfire sold over 200 tickets and that jousting equipment was popular among attendees, though rain made parts of the evening challenging. “They really enjoyed that. There was, like, over 200 tickets sold,” a student said while recapping the bonfire.
Students thanked staff who supported the event and said they plan to hold next year’s dance indoors because of the rain this year. Board members praised the student organizers and asked that they pass thanks to student-council advisers.
