"The current sound system in the main gym has significant failures and damaged hardware," he said, adding the work would restore microphones, bells, sirens and time clocks and integrate with a planned video scoreboard.
The district also asked to replace the walk‑in refrigeration condensing unit at Southampton High School to protect food service inventory; swap a failed 30‑plus‑year heating unit at the Transportation Building for an energy‑efficient model; repair or replace two furnaces and damaged ductwork at the district office; and update the Alcatel‑Lucent district phone system, which the presenter said is discontinued and lacks vendor support.
Several projects are required by code or to preserve safety: the intermediate school’s fuel‑oil monitoring probes must be upgraded to meet health‑department requirements, and the fire‑alarm front‑end control panels at the high, intermediate and elementary schools need replacement because current panels have reached capacity and cannot accept additional devices required by code.
The presenter also requested districtwide water‑fountain filtration work to comply with lead‑water policies and to bring out‑of‑service fountains back online, and new steel mounting and electrical work to replace damaged baseball and softball scoreboards.
Board members and community attendees thanked facilities staff for the thorough presentation. President Eppoli said the board will take public input and proceed through the normal review and approval process; the public hearing was adjourned and the regular meeting reconvened.
