The Board of Education voted, by roll call, to approve several routine items as a block during the January meeting.
The president called for motions and the board approved the 01/07/2025 special public meeting minutes (vote recorded 7–0), a CPSC/CSE meeting summary memo dated 01/15/2025 (7–0), five curriculum-and-instruction resolutions (2425117–2425121) taken as a block (7–0), five business-and-operations resolutions (2425122–2425126) taken as a block (7–0), and personnel items (7–0). The approvals were recorded without additional debate.
Administration presented a draft 2025–26 school calendar and explained constraints stemming from the teachers’ contract, which requires 184 working days and results in 181 instructional days plus three conference days. Brian Hayward explained the calendar’s limited flexibility and noted the district incorporated Lunar New Year where it fell in the calendar. The board asked whether parent-teacher conference days are identified (they are decided later in the year) and discussed whether remote learning could substitute for snow days beyond the contractually guaranteed first two snow days.
Superintendent Poole said the district maintains a remote-learning addendum to the safety plan and that any wider use of remote instruction would require testing to ensure quality and capacity before being adopted. The administration said the calendar draft will be placed on the next agenda for formal adoption.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn into executive session to discuss personnel and related confidential matters; the motion carried 7–0.
