Facilities director presents summer upgrades and summer project plan for Seaford schools

Mr. Costa, the facilities presenter, told the Seaford Union Free School District board that the district completed an extensive list of summer projects and has several larger projects planned for the coming months. "We had a really great summer. We had a lot of work done," Mr. Costa said, and noted the facilities team completed ADA-compliant parking installations, playground turf replacements, a modernized library and a sanded middle-school gym floor with a new logo. He said much of the work was done in-house by maintenance staff.
The presentation highlighted several larger renovations finished this year: a press-box overhaul using composite materials to prevent rot, an auditorium renovation that required multiple contracts and seat removal over the summer, and a cafeteria refit with new furniture and district branding. Mr. Costa said these projects were "night and day" improvements in visible campus spaces.
Looking ahead, Mr. Costa listed priority summer projects: finishing the Viking Café (a high-school grab-and-go dining area), replacing the middle school roof after observed delamination and installing new turf and safety surfacing at a MATA/back playground. He also said first-floor harbor bathroom renovations are "currently in the SED" and awaiting approval.
Board members acknowledged the work and thanked Mr. Costa and his team. The presentation concluded with staff recognition and a brief question-and-answer exchange about project sequencing and timelines.
The district did not provide contract dollar amounts or specific contractors during the presentation; the harbor restroom work was described as pending State Education Department approval.
