Seaford school officials present 2.49% levy and three propositions for May 20 vote

The Seaford Union Free School District on behalf of its Board of Education and administrative team unveiled the district’s 2025-26 budget and three propositions that will appear on the May 20 ballot.
Presenter, speaking for the board and administrative team, said, "I'm proud to introduce this Viking Cops video that highlights the 2025-26 budget," and announced a proposed tax levy of 2.49%, "which is below the tax levy limit of 2.68%." The presenter said the district aims to maintain and enhance programs while improving campuses.
The presenter described three propositions voters will see on the ballot: Proposition 1 is the budget itself; Proposition 2 would authorize the use of reserves for safety and security upgrades; and Proposition 3 would authorize reserve funds to replace roofs at two schools. The presenter said Propositions 2 and 3 are "at no additional cost to the taxpayer."
On the district’s funding approach, the presenter said that by using reserves rather than issuing bonds the district "saves about $7,900,000." The presenter characterized the strategy as fiscally responsible and intended to avoid higher long-term borrowing costs while preserving district programs and campus improvements.
Voting is scheduled for May 20 from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Manor Harbor Schools. The presenter closed the announcement with a community sign-off: "go Vikings." The district did not provide vote outcomes during this presentation; the propositions will be decided by voters on May 20.
