The Rondout Valley Central School District Board of Education voted on several routine but consequential items during its Aug. 26 meeting, including an intergovernmental agreement and a multi-year security-contract extension.
The board approved a recommended agreement between the County of Ulster and the Rondout Valley Central School District for the 2025–26 school year as presented. The motion was moved, seconded and passed by voice vote.
The board also approved an extension of the district’s agreement with Atlas Security (referred to in the meeting as Atlas/Atlas Security) through June 30, 2029; the motion authorizes the board president to execute the extension and notes the district will review safety data from its safety team and report findings back to the board. One board member asked staff to make the contractor’s scope of work and job description more publicly clear, similar to the disclosures available for school-resource officers.
The superintendent’s consent agenda items 1–5 were approved as presented, and the board approved warrant numbers 1–3. All motions cited in the meeting were carried by voice vote; no roll-call tallies were recorded in the transcript.
The board closed the meeting after approving the warrants and adjourning by voice vote.
