Patchogue-Medford honors dozens of staff in tenure recognition; district reports substantial new hires

Dr. Cohen, speaking for district leadership during a slide presentation, called staff to the stage for individual recognition and a group photo and said, “Once again, congratulations to all who received tenure.” The presentation highlighted the names and roles of staff receiving tenure and noted many family members were in attendance.
Administrators also briefed the board on staffing shifts and new hires. The district announced several administrative moves and new appointments, including assistant principals, directors, and principals. The presenters said the district hired approximately 70 teachers (including part‑time and grant‑funded positions), eight teaching assistants, two nurses, 15 full‑time clerical staff, six full‑time operations staff, and five security employees over the summer, and that recruitment continues.
The report also summarized new administrative hires and reassignments by name as part of the recognition: directors, principals and other leaders were introduced during the presentation to the board and audience.
The board did not take formal action tied to the tenure recognitions during the public portion of the meeting; the consent agenda was later approved by voice vote.
The district said it will continue onboarding and professional development programs for new and returning staff to support the school year.
