Board committee recommends handbook change to formalize student presenters and separate student representative

Separately, the committee recommended that the state-mandated student representative be distinct from the monthly student presenters and attend the second monthly meeting, where broader discussion items provide an opportunity for more substantive input. The chair asked the superintendent to gather more information and prepare options on how the student representative would be selected, how long the term would be, and how many students might serve.
Board members indicated general agreement with the approach and agreed to revisit the handbook edits at the board's next second meeting of the month. The transcript does not record a formal vote to adopt handbook language during this session; the matter was scheduled for further consideration.
