The Menands Union Free School District board voted to adopt a proposed amendment to the 2025–26 districtwide safety plan that clarifies the use of automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) in school buildings.
A member moved the adoption "upon the recommendation of the superintendent," the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote after administration noted the amendment had been posted to the district website and no public comments were received.
Board members asked no substantive questions during the motion and the chair called for the voice vote. Administrators said the amendment is intended to ensure clarity about AED availability and procedures in the event of a cardiac emergency.
The motion passed; no further action was taken at the meeting. The administration said it will continue to post safety‑plan documents on the district website and to notify staff of procedural updates.
Next procedural step: updated safety‑plan documents will remain posted and staff will be briefed on AED procedures.
