District leaders outline 'Cardinal Care' and building-level goals for the year

District building leaders presented a coordinated plan to reinforce school culture and academic goals under the Cardinal Care initiative.
Elementary administrators said Cardinal Care — cooperation, accountability, respect and excellence — will be the focus in six- to seven-week cycles, with assemblies, student recognition and teacher-led SEL lessons. ‘‘My name is RJ. Today, we're gonna learn all about how to CARE,’’ a student in the opening video said during the presentation, which administrators intend to use across grades K–12.
Middle school leaders described an academic priority to measure and grow individual student performance, setting a goal of 10% growth on universal screeners and distributing individualized data sheets to students so they can track progress and set action plans. The middle school also plans assemblies and community-building activities.
High school leaders described plans to roll out an SEL screener (SABERS) as a perceptual measure of student social-emotional learning, to be used with existing STAR data and other student-profile work. The high school aims to introduce student learner profiles, pilot teacher use in December and have students complete profiles by February 2026.
Building councils also outlined three family events for the year — a fall harvest-style festival, a winter literacy night and a spring wellness night — and said they will time events to coincide with board meetings where possible to increase staff and family participation.
Administrators emphasized alignment with the district strategic action plan and said the work will be sustained across the district to support PK–12 consistency in expectations and celebrations.
