Chair (S2) presented a resolution under board policy 6255 to accept checks totaling $46,000 from the Adirondack Foundation for distribution as scholarships.
The board approved acceptance of the funds by voice vote (7 yes). The donation breakdown read into the record was: Gerald K. Douglas Scholarship $3,000; Lake Placid Education Foundation Fund $20,000; Nash Williams Founding Family Scholarship $23,000. The motion to accept the checks was moved, seconded and approved unanimously.
Following the donation vote, the chair read a recognition of scholar athletes: multiple Lake Placid teams (boys and girls track and field, girls and boys tennis, girls softball, varsity lacrosse) and individual student athletes were recognized for meeting the scholar-athlete criteria. The chair noted that team designations require 75% of team members to hold a GPA of 90 or higher.
Superintendent (S3) also reported that the community awarded over $136,000 in scholarships to the outgoing senior class; incoming board members and outgoing members were acknowledged and presented with a framed student artwork token of appreciation.
No further action was taken on scholarships beyond acceptance and recognition at the meeting.
