Board ratifies Hastings Teachers Association agreement and clears routine business items

At its May 6 meeting the Hastings-on-Hudson Board of Education approved a memorandum of understanding with the Hastings Teachers Association that the superintendent described as ratified by teachers over the previous two days and as a competitive agreement intended to strengthen labor relations.
Superintendent Dr. McCursey praised the negotiating team and described the outcome as a foundation for continued partnership. Trustees said the contract includes across-the-board adjustments and changes to steps in the salary schedule intended to be competitive and to address scheduling and instructional-minute requirements at the middle and high schools.
In the same meeting the board approved routine business items, including placements for CSC and CPSC, the personnel consent agenda (appointments, amendments, leaves and resignations), and minutes from the April 22 meeting. The board also voted to accept the Westchester-Putnam School Boards Association budget and its recommended slate of directors.
