Honeoye Central adopts tax rates and approves routine budget, personnel and facilities items

At its meeting the Honeoye Central School District Board of Education adopted the district's 2025–26 tax warrants, approved several routine personnel and financial items, and approved invoices tied to operations and facilities.
Derek from the business office reviewed reassessment impacts and tax-rate calculations, saying total property values in the district rose by about $205 million (an increase near 24.7%) and that changes in equalization affect town-by-town rates. Derek told the board the district's conservative estimates from April were generally higher than the final numbers and said most tax rates ended up lower than projected; he said collection begins September 1.
After the presentation the board moved to approve the 2025–26 tax warrants and carried the motion.
The board also voted to forego a second reading of Policy 73‑17 (students and personal electronic devices) after staff confirmed the district had submitted the required plan. The consent agenda (including July 8 minutes and CSE minutes) carried. Personnel actions included approving an array of 2025–26 appointments and accepting Cindy Sherman's resignation; the board thanked Sherman for her service.
Financial motions included approval of an invoice to Capital Region BOCES, funding for substitute bus driver training for 2025–26, the declaration of obsolete elementary transportation items for sale or disposal, and approval of an invoice to LMC Industrial Contractors Inc. for an air handler replacement in the Honeyoye auditorium. The board also approved an amended HTA Smart Start memorandum of agreement.
The board concluded with committee and board-member comments and adjourned.
