The board approved a request from the boys' varsity basketball program to attend the KSA holiday tournament in Orlando, Florida, Dec. 17–21, 2026.
Assistant coach and teacher Patty Morsheimer presented the trip details and benefits, saying the event would provide higher‑level competition, exposure to college coaches and life experiences for students who have not traveled by plane. The coaches described fundraising plans through the school’s nonprofit club (Honeyoye Boys Basketball Incorporated, a 501(c)(3)) and said they expect fundraisers to cover costs so there would be no out‑of‑pocket expense for most players.
Morsheimer said the projected cost was about $24,000 to cover 12 players, three coaches and one team manager; that figure includes round‑trip airfare from Rochester to Orlando, transportation, four nights at the Gaylord Palms Resort, meals and event fees. Board members asked about discipline plans and logistics if a player misbehaves while on the trip; coaches said they would refine protocols and consult with staff who run other long‑distance trips.
The chair asked for a motion to approve the trip; the board carried the motion by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
