Hamburg High holds Class of 2025 commencement at Howell Field

John Kranghal, principal of Hamburg High School, opened the Class of 2025 commencement at Howell Field, welcomed family and friends, and introduced student leaders who led the Pledge of Allegiance and the school orchestra for the national anthem. He recognized several graduates who have chosen to join the U.S. armed forces, naming Michael Jabsinski, Ethan Coyle, Jason Dunlap, Josiah Allardo, Josh Warren and Dylan Paz.
Salutatorian Lisa Tran thanked faculty, family and classmates and reflected on growth during high school. “Do the kinds of things that come from the heart. When you do, you won't be dissatisfied,” Tran said, urging her classmates to embrace change and pursue opportunities after graduation.
Valedictorian Lydia Neff thanked supporters and encouraged peers to find purpose and community as they move forward. Speaking directly to her classmates, Neff closed with a lighthearted rallying line: “be good, do good, God bless, and go Bills.”
Principal Kranghal formally presented the class to Superintendent Tom Adams as having met New York State education requirements. Adams addressed graduates about sustaining the school’s emphasis on community and character, telling the seniors he values that Hamburg focuses “not just on the pursuit of happiness, but on the pursuit of joy.” He urged graduates to remain engaged with others, draw on lessons learned in school, and seek lasting contributions to their communities.
Tom Flynn, president of the Board of Education, congratulated the graduates, spoke about inspiration and perseverance, and, as the board representative, certified that the class ‘‘has fulfilled all requirements for graduation.’’ The board president also noted the alumni foundation will contact graduates about future support opportunities.
The voice of the Hamburg Bulldogs, Sean Cronin, read graduate names as students crossed the stage to accept diplomas. When the presentation of diplomas concluded, Kranghal asked the Class of 2025 to move their tassels to the left, declaring them officially graduates of Hamburg High School and closing the ceremony by thanking the audience and wishing everyone a good summer.
The ceremony included introductions of administrators and staff, recognition of student government officers and acknowledgments of the buildings and grounds crew, school resource officer and emergency personnel who supported the event.
