Turner: phases 2–3 in closeout; phase 4 bids expected in early October, several change orders proposed

Zach Artisio, construction superintendent for Turner Construction, told the Hamburg Central School District board that phases 2 and 3 of the district’s capital projects have passed their substantial‑completion dates and the contractor is now addressing punch‑list items.
"We've eclipsed the substantial completion date on both of those projects, and we are moving into the part of the project that we call punch list and close out," Artisio said.
Artisio outlined four change orders scheduled for board consideration: CO201‑13 (CMU replacement and area D classroom repairs at the high school), CO301‑02 (installation of roller shades that were omitted from earlier scopes at Armour Elementary), CO303‑01 and CO303‑02 (electrical work to repair shared neutral wiring discovered during phase‑3 work). He said those electrical discoveries required corrective work by the electrical contractor.
He also showed before‑and‑after photos of the boiler room (old 1954 steam boilers removed), the cafeteria ventilation upgrades and Room 150 renovations (unit ventilator replacement, new flooring and lighting). Artisio said site work included demolition and new rubber surfacing on playgrounds and that work on the boiler room is roughly complete.
On schedule, Artisio said the district is aiming to advertise phase 4 work for bids around Oct. 6, with the exact date subject to design completion and local bid calendars.
Board action: the board later approved the listed change orders and related contract actions during the business portion of the meeting.
What’s next: staff will bring change‑order paperwork and contract amendments forward for formal approval and the district will proceed with advertising phase 4 once design and scheduling considerations are settled.
