PTSA outlines two‑year parent‑engagement plan, asks board for closer collaboration

"PTSA works to build stronger schools and a stronger community," Gucci said, summarizing activities that included donation bins, Meet‑the‑Candidates nights, teacher‑appreciation events and scholarships. She said the unit currently counts 22 parents and caregivers, nine staff members and two community members as active participants and that the group aims to strengthen outreach and offer parents clearer pathways to influence budgeting and programming.
Board members and PTSA representatives discussed specific next steps for improved collaboration: listing budget‑meeting dates in district communications, exploring digital agendas with active links and coordinating meeting times so parents can attend both PTSA and budget sessions. One board member offered to demonstrate BoardDocs to PTSA to improve access to meeting materials.
Gucci said the School of Excellence process included surveying families and staff, developing an action plan with timelines and measuring progress; the PTSA plans to report back in August on membership renewal and an open house. The board thanked the group and encouraged continued communication between PTSA leaders and district administrators.
The presentation concluded with a request that the district share budget‑meeting dates earlier to allow more parent attendance; administrators flagged options for workshops and digital communications as potential solutions.
