Board approves routine consent items, joins regional data‑privacy consortium and accepts prom‑dress donation

The Fort Edward Union Free School District Board of Education voted April 7 to approve routine consent items and three action items, including participation in a regional data‑privacy consortium, acceptance of a donation of prom dresses and a slate of personnel appointments.

Board Chair Tim Clark called for approval of the consent agenda, which combined minutes, treasury reports and committee recommendations; a motion and second were recorded and the board carried the item by voice vote.

The board then considered a proposal to join a regional information center (RIC) cooperative that will provide centralized data‑privacy review and vetting of vendor contracts and website postings. The presenter described the RIC as a resource that will “do all of the leg work for us” to ensure contracts and public postings comply with applicable privacy rules. A motion to approve participation was moved and seconded and carried.

The board also accepted a donation of prom dresses from Arlene Henley; that motion carried. Later the board approved personnel items (appointments a–g), with a disclaimer read that coaching and extracurricular appointments are contingent on verification of credentials and final student enrollment; the personnel slate was approved as presented.
