Superintendent: Fayetteville High educator placed on administrative leave pending investigation

Superintendent Jones told the Fayetteville City School Board that an accusation has been posted online concerning an educator at Fayetteville High School and the staff member has been placed on administrative leave pending the conclusion of an investigation.

"Fayetteville City Schools is aware that an accusation has been made online concerning an educator at Fayetteville High School. We take such matters very seriously. The staff member in question has been placed on administrative leave, pending the conclusion of the investigation," Jones said, adding that administrators are following district policies and Tennessee law to reach "correct conclusions." Board members had agreed at the meeting's start to hear the personnel update before routine business. The chair noted the board does not ordinarily bring all personnel matters before the board but said this case "seemed appropriate" to report publicly.

The superintendent said staff would work diligently on the situation and that any "subsequent determinations will be made in accordance with the laws of the state of Tennessee." The board did not take a formal vote on the personnel matter during the meeting and provided no identifying details about the educator. No timeline for the investigation's completion was announced.

The district emphasized that student safety and well-being are a priority while the investigation proceeds.
