District operations: pump failure, master-keying plan and vehicle quotes highlight maintenance needs

He reviewed quotes for bus-garage bay doors: Robin’s Garage Door estimated $14,440 but may require structural modification; Cascade Door quoted $16,258, is local and stocks parts, and Jeff recommended the local vendor for responsiveness in emergencies.
Jeff reported an alarm showing a seal leak on sewage pump 2 that has allowed water into the motor. He said Colley Brothers (the installer) previously worked on the pumps; whether pump 2 remains under warranty depends on whether both pumps were replaced last time. Pump 1 is functioning and Jeff described the manual/monitoring steps staff will use until pump 2 is repaired.
On water and health safety, Jeff said drinking fountains were repaired after calcium and iron buildup and a leaking drain was fixed. Johnson Controls has scheduled a technician to repair the backflow/check valve on Jan. 8 (after the fire marshal inspection) to demonstrate proactive maintenance.
Jeff also described a master-key program with Puget Sound Hardware scheduled for Jan. 2 to map and rekey cores so the district can reduce a large key ring to a smaller emergency set. He said this would improve security and emergency access without replacing all locks because of interchangeable cores on existing hardware.
On transportation procurement, Jeff presented van quotes: Northwest Bus Sales (state-contract vendor) quoted $83,941 for an in-stock AWD 10-passenger Ford Transit (another AWD low-roof quote was $83,372); Shetke Bus and Van Sales quoted $95,174 for an alternate vehicle. Jeff recommended using a vendor on the state contract to streamline procurement and possibly obtain decal work at a discounted price.
Board members asked for turnaround times and model-year details; Jeff said he would follow up with vendors and return with any additional information needed for purchase decisions.
