Assistant Superintendent Donna Abernathy reviewed the revised 2025–26 calendar that already includes two personalized teacher workdays — Friday, Oct. 24, 2025, and Friday, March 20, 2026 — to allow teachers to work on report cards either from home or in their classrooms. Chair and several board members raised the possibility of adding Friday, Jan. 20, 2026, so each nine‑week grading period would have a personalized workday option; the board indicated informal consensus to bring the Jan. 20 addition back for formal action at the next meeting.
Board members also noted summer‑school dates were not clearly posted on the district calendar and urged staff to add them so parents can plan vacations accordingly. Several members urged a stronger data focus for summer school: while pre/post tests during the three‑week program show short‑term gains, they asked staff to report whether gains are sustained when school resumes and whether the current three‑week, five‑hour/day model is the most effective use of funds.
