Board approves $93,274 copy-paper contract with W.B. Mason

Director of maintenance Steve Reid said the bid package went to nine suppliers and six submitted responsive sealed bids; one alternate bid failed to meet the district's brightness specification. "Because they did not submit a product that we specified ... they did not meet spec," Reid said when describing the rejected alternate.
Reid noted last year's per-carton cost was $28.44 from a different vendor (Liberty Paper) and explained the district's adherence to specification protects procurement integrity. The board moved, seconded and approved the recommendation by voice vote; the presiding official announced the motion passed 4–0.
The award covers district copy-paper needs under the specified contract; staff said W.B. Mason has been used in prior years and performed satisfactorily.
