RCPS technology staff earn COSN privacy seal; Fishwick Middle School highlighted for student growth and community service

Chris Perkins, chief operations officer, said the TLE seal signals the division has taken measurable steps to protect student privacy and data under COSN’s standards; the seal requires recertification every two years. Perkins acknowledged the two‑year, rigorous application process and read the names of staff members who contributed. Connection (Connexion) also donated $1,500 to Feeding America in the name of award winner Lucas Raynard, who thanked the board and IT leadership for support.
The board also welcomed a featured presentation from John P. Fishwick Middle School. The school’s presenter reported an enrollment near 450 students, representation from 10 countries and speakers of seven languages, improved reading growth (top‑five in Region 6), a Saturday school program, and community engagement activities that included collecting over 800 pairs of socks for a local rescue mission.
