The Middlesex County School Board completed its annual organizational business at the January meeting, electing Elliot Reid as chair and choosing Dr. Burnett as vice chair.
Board members nominated Reid for chair; the nomination was seconded and approved by a voice vote, and the outgoing presiding officer turned the meeting over to Reid. The board followed by nominating Dr. Burnett for vice chair; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.
The board also appointed Mrs. Kim Bagby to serve as clerk and selected Karen Murray as deputy clerk after recommendations from the presiding official and seconding motions; both appointments were approved by voice vote.
Members voted to keep the board’s regular meeting schedule unchanged: 6:30 p.m. on the second Monday of each month at the St. Clair Walker (Cook’s Corner) complex. Committee assignments were left as the status quo, with members confirming representation for regional special education, the Chesapeake Bay Governor's School, WHRO and Bridging Communities as previously arranged.
The organizational votes were handled by voice; the board did not record a roll-call tally in the open meeting minutes provided in the transcript. The board then moved on to reports and presentations.
