The board approved two administrative items on the action agenda: budget amendments required by new state accounting codes and the hiring of a new staff member for additional middle-school support.
Business staff (speaker 5) explained the budget amendments reflected a statewide change in account codes for special education in Fund 27; the dollar amounts remain the same and the amendments move $42,000 from old account numbers into newly numbered accounts. Staff said the change is strictly a coding update required to comply with Wisconsin Uniform Financial Accounting rules and does not alter program funding.
On personnel, staff recommended hiring Dawn Meese to address increased student needs at the middle school. Meese was selected from multiple applicants and, because of an existing placement and required coursework, will start the first day of the district’s second semester (Jan. 20). The board approved the hire by voice vote.
Both actions were presented as technical or operational approvals rather than policy shifts; staff noted continued monitoring of grants and food-service sourcing but did not request additional funds at the meeting.
