Board reports back on Arrowhead meeting; consolidation and strategic-plan dashboard discussed

Board president (Chair, S5) reported on a meeting hosted at Arrowhead that brought together feeder-school boards to begin conversations about shared services, curriculum alignment and possible consolidation.

"There was a lot of talk on shared services, a lot of talk on curriculum alignment," the chair said, adding that the process of district consolidation could take "five to seven years" and would likely require significant community engagement. Some participants warned about potential property-tax impacts and the difficulty of obtaining multiple referendums if a master consolidation were pursued.

A board member (S2) said the group discussed the potential to share staff or services as an initial step if full consolidation proved too difficult. "There's certainly better ways that we can share staff," S2 said, citing instances where therapists and specialists are already shared among districts.

The board also reviewed its strategic plan pillars — Fiscally Forward, Wellness, Safety, Community Engagement and Student Success — and described plans to build benchmarks and a public dashboard that parents and the community can use to track progress. The superintendent and administration will develop time-framed goals and proposed metrics to present at upcoming workshops, and the board scheduled follow-up dates for strategy discussions.

Next steps: district administrators will develop benchmarks and a dashboard draft for the board, and further conversations with feeder districts will continue; the board emphasized that consolidation, if pursued, would be a long, multi-stage undertaking requiring broad community engagement.
